A Tale of Two Barnets

Barnet UNISON is supporting a new film that shows just what contribution the work of members makes to the local community.

A Tale of Two Barnets premieres on Monday 19 March in the borough – after receiving plaudits from film director Ken Loach.

Filmmaker Charles Honderick spent six months interviewing people around the London borough and has made a film that is powerful, moving and funny.

The branch says that it’s evidence of the work that it has done with community groups and residents, “that they felt empowered enough to want to make this film and stand up for public services”.

Yet Councillor Robert Rams initially tried to stop any library in the borough from putting up posters to advertise the film.

But he backed down and allowed the posters to go up – although saying that he would “not allow … leaflets in easy reach of children”.
