Cardiff Town Hall and Bute Tunnel were shut down as the strike took shape across Wales.
All Cardiff schools were also closed and the city’s bus service ground to a halt, while severe disruption also hit leisure and waste services. A total of 14 libraries were closed and all the city’s parks were shut.
It was a similar story around Carmarthenshire County, where all 62 schools were shut, refuse and recycling services were halted and leisure services were disrupted.
