Commenting on Vince Cable’s speech to the Liberal Democrat conference, Dave Prentis, UNISON General Secretary, said:
“Cable says that capitalism kills off competition, but this government is ideologically tied to capitalism – and this will kill off our NHS and public services. And he is part of a coalition that wants to bring more private companies in to run essential services, selling them off to the lowest bidder, putting profit first, and people second.
“Tough talk is not enough for the bankers. They need tough action, and should pay a meaningful contribution towards the financial crisis they caused. A Robin Hood Tax would raise
