Social work review – UNISON response

UNISON, the union representing more than 40,000 social workers, said today that social workers were desperate to get out from under the mountains of paperwork, but actions speak louder than words. UNISON warned that any review of child protection should not waste precious time going over old ground, but should use the Social Work Taskforce recommendations as its starting point.

The union said the Social Work Taskforce had made the top priorities for boosting child protection clear, and that now was the time to start implementing the recommendations, to deliver real change in social work teams across the country, as a matter of urgency.
