UNISON slams new £200 million adult college course cuts

Commenting on survey findings by the Association of Colleges, which show that adult learner budgets face a £200 million funding cut, Christina McAnea, UNISONÕs Head of Education, said:

ÒCuts in adult funding will affect the vital work of Colleges, which have been working flat out to help adults retrain during the recession.

ÒThe economic recovery may have begun, but it is very weak and cuts in public spending risk ruining the quality of courses and putting us straight back into the red.

ÒUNISON is meeting the FE Minister, Kevin Brennan, and we will be making it clear that the government must think again.Ó
