UNISON, the UK’s leading public sector trade union, today called for a new management culture, to get London Metropolitan University through its current financial crisis. The call follows a damning report, which condemned the outgoing Vice Chancellor, and the university’s governing board, blaming them for the financial problems at the university.
The report, published by Sir David Melville CBE, says that the university’s governing board knew about the inaccurate data that was being given to the sector’s funding body, the Higher Education Funding Council for Englands (HEFCE). The data, which showed inflated student numbers, led to the university being forced to pay back
