UNISON will be calling on Labour to protect public services and to not give in to pressure for spending cuts that risk undermining the achievements of recent years.
Additional taxation should be raised from the richest 1% who are best able to pay, argues the union in a contemporary motion to the Labour Party conference in Brighton this week.
The motion also calls for an urgent review of the transaction costs and waste generated by the marketisation of public services. The motion says:
