UNISON health workers picketed board meetings by two Trust’s today.
For the past six months staff across Northern Ireland have been campaigning
against damaging health service cuts.
Workers decided to demonstrate outside Belfast Health and Social Care
Trust’s board meeting at 10am.
And they also picketed the Northern Health and Social Care Trust Board
meeting at 2pm.
Joe McCusker, UNISON’s Regional Organiser, said:
“The proposals will destroy frontline services and potentially put patients at
risk.
“The Chief Executive’s can no longer claim that these are merely efficiency
savings.
“This is a wholesale reduction in Health Service provision.
“We has continually called on the First and Deputy First Minister and our
Assembly members at Stormont to exempt health from the CSR cuts.
“Our elected representatives now have an obligation to undo the damage they
did in April by refusing to support the exemption of health from the CSR.”
