Local government unions, GMB, UNISON and Unite have today (16 July) accused the employers of showing disrespect towards their own workforce by refusing to discuss a pay offer above 0.5%. The employers have had two months to consult on a better offer, but today said they could not make their minds up. Councils have budgeted for 2.2% pay increase for 2009/10 (settlement date 1 April, 2009).
