Ofsted Staff In Second Round Of Action

OFSTED STAFF IN SECOND ROUND OF ACTION

1000 members of UNISON and PCS working in Ofsted will today (16 June) begin a second round of action in a dispute over pay. Staff will begin a three month work to rule, banning overtime and the use of personal cars for business. The move is the latest in a series of action over a below inflation three year pay deal and a divisive new pay structure. The action will disrupt the tight schedule of inspections for children’s homes, nurseries, boarding schools and child minding services.

UNISON National Officer for social care, Helga Pile, said:”The second round of action sends a clear message to Ofsted employers that this issue will not go away. We have come up with a series of realistic proposals to try to end the dispute and we would urge the employers to get back into talks.

“Under the current offer some staff are left with a three year pay freeze and others with no pay progression, which is totally unacceptable.

“Ofsted relies on the goodwill of staff to use their cars to travel between appointments and to work beyond their contracted hours, so this action will hit the inspections schedule hard.
