UNISON, the UK’s largest public sector union, today welcomed the findings of the Casey review, and called for them to be incorporated into the up and coming NPIA review.
Ben Priestley, UNISON National Officer for PCSO’s, said:
“UNISON has been campaigning long and hard for PCSO’s to be given greater powers. PCSO’s are the eyes and ears of the community. Having extra powers to detain suspects and issue notices for disorderly conduct would make the most of this knowledge in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.”
UNISON represents more than half of the UK’s 14,000 PCSOs.
