The UK’s largest public sector union, UNISON, has responded to today’s release of the NHS workforce census which shows a drop of 17,000 NHS staff.
Karen Jennings, UNISON’s head of health said
“These alarming figures appear to confirm our fears that health workers jobs are now being lost because welcome extra cash is often being sucked straight into an endless black-hole of ‘strategic’ reforms, which do not appear to be linked to many meaningful front-line, patient care outcomes.”
UNISON represents some 460,000 health workers in the UK.
