UNISON Members Take Pension Message to Parliament

More than 1,000 UNISON dinner ladies, teaching assistants, social workers,

refuse collectors, home helps, police support staff and other members from

across England and Wales converged on Parliament today to lobby their MPs

over cuts to their pension rights.

They joined members from 10* other trade unions to put pressure on MPs to

broker a decent deal for members of the local government pension scheme.

Local Government employers want to cut rights but are offering only limited

protection for existing scheme members. Between them they represented

more than one million workers.
