UNISON, the UK’s largest union, today warned that setting up
children’s services to mirror GP surgeries is not the answer to
improving the lives and prospects of children in care. Instead,
urgent action is needed to tackle the chronic shortage of children’s
social workers and residential care staff, to ensure that vulnerable
youngsters receive continuity of care and individual attention.
