UNISON wins discrimination case against General Social Care Council

UNISON has won a landmark case of discrimination case against

the General Social Care Council (GSCC) for one of its members at

the Care Standards Tribunal.

Peter van der Gucht, has worked in social care for 30 years, 25 of

these as a qualified social worker. 17 years ago Peter was

diagnosed with bi-polar affective disorder, when he applied to

register with the GSCC he gave details of his impairment on his

application form. Peter was told in a letter that his application had

been delayed because ”
