UNISON General Secretary, Dave Prentis, has finally pushed the
Government to honour its pledge to end the two-tier workforce
across the public services. The ground-breaking deal will end the
exploitation of low paid workers by private companies which take
over public service contracts.
Following two weeks of intense face to face negotiations between
Dave Prentis and the Prime Minister, the Chancellor of the
Exchequer, the Secretaries of State for Health and Education and
the Chair of the Labour Party, Downing Street finally agreed the
extension today, delivering on a pledge made in 2001.
The deal will be included in policy documents to be presented to
the Labour Party National Policy Forum this weekend.
