UNISON, the biggest union for police staff, today welcomed the Home Office onto the Police Staff Council – the national negotiating body for 65,000 police staff. UNISON endorsed the application on behalf of police staff members, following a request from the Home Secretary to join the Council.
Commenting on the historic change to the Council’s constitution, Ben Priestley – UNISON National Officer said:
“Police staff form a vital part of the law enforcement team and the Home Office has made a very public commitment to improve its engagement with them and with UNISON by joining the Police Staff Council.
