UNISON, the UK’s largest union, has called on the
Government to introduce a levy on gas shippers to fund
research work into safety and environmental
improvement.
The move follows the announcement last week of 120
job cuts at the industry’s research and development
company, Advantica Technologies Limited.
The union argues that the jobs axe is a direct response
to cuts in spending by Transco following the price
control review carried out last year by OFGEM.
