By now I hope most UNISON members have heard about ‘Grovember’. It’s a month of activity across our union, focussed on growing our union.
It’s all part of building a union that’s bigger, better and bolder.
We’re not content just to be the biggest union in the UK, we want to keep getting bigger – ensuring that even more public service workers get the support, organisation and representation that UNISON provides.
Working together – activists, members and staff alike – with everyone playing their part and making small improvements to how we recruit and retain members, means we can deliver big gains for our union. It might be talking to your colleagues about joining us in UNISON, changes to how we sign up members or investing in organising, advertising and training.
This month is a great opportunity to build a better union, but also to show everyone who’s not already a member of UNISON just what our union is capable of. And we have so much to be proud of.
Ours is the union that defeated Employment Tribunal Fees, led the campaign for the minimum wage and fights each day to ensure public services get the support our communities need. Ours is the union that fights for Equal Pay and against privatisation. And our union is the driving force for better public services in all our communities, which we all benefit from.
The bigger we are, the more we can do. Our size is an important part of our strength – and if we make big gains in November that means all UNISON members benefit.
It won’t be easy, but it’s a task I know our special union is more than up to meeting – together.
To celebrate Grovember, we’ve secured exclusive discounts – for long-standing members and new joiners alike – at places like Alton Towers, Legoland and the London Eye. And Haven holidays are offering even bigger discounts on their holidays to UNISON members in November. You can find more about these and other member offers HERE.
