UNISON National Delegates Conference 2016, in Brighton UK.

It was a huge pleasure and an honour as always to speak to UNISON’s national delegate conference this afternoon.

To address 3,000 delegates and visitors to our conference.

To remember Jo Cox – taken from her loved ones too soon.

To take the fight to Nigel Farage and his poisonous, racist attacks on immigrants.

To remember the successes we’ve had over this past, difficult year.

And to look ahead with optimism and enthusiasm, to the battles still yet to come.

I want to take this opportunity to thank UNISON members and activists – from different nations, services and politics – who make this union great. You often face personal struggles – yet give so much to their colleagues, and friends and this union

Thank you for your contribution. Everything this union achieves starts with you.
