Conference notes that Community Sector (CS) members make up a substantial proportion of UNISON membership, yet many CS members are not supported by specialist branches.
Conference believes it is vital that all members are properly represented in UNISON and should be well supported to participate in UNISON democracy, attend conferences, and receive the full benefit of their membership.
Conference therefore asks the Community Service Group Executive to:
1)Support non-community branches with CS members to establish a Community officer from amongst their CS members.
2)Report annually at Community Conference on the branches with CS members which have not established those officer roles and recruited CS members into them, then circulate the report to all CS members.
3)To report annually at Community Conference on the branches with CS members which have not sent a CS member to Community Conference, and circulate the report to all CS members in UNISON.
