This conference recognises that while continuity and experience are valuable, introducing term limits can help ensure the LGBT+ National Committee remains dynamic, inclusive, and open to new ideas and voices.
This conference notes that other self-organised groups, such as the National Women’s Committee, have successfully implemented term limits to balance experience with fresh perspectives.
This conference calls on the national LGBT+ committee to:
1)establish a working group, with representatives from each regional LGBT+ self-organised group, to explore how term limits could be introduced for elected seats on the National LGBT+ Committee.
2)bring forward proposals to amend the LGBT+ Self-Organised Group national constitution to introduce term limits, including a mandated period members must stand down before seeking re-election, based on the working group’s recommendations.
