- 2024 National LGBT+ Conference

- Carried
Conference notes the funding crises in Local Authorities across the UK which is having a detrimental impact on the lives of everyone across the UK and in particular having a greater impact on our LGBT+ members and communities.
Conference also notes that in times like this of austerity, LGBT+ services have at times been the first services to lose funding or be significantly reduced.
Conference notes that for many LGBT+ people in our communities this adds to isolation and leads to cutting LGBTI+ people off from their community and may also in some cases lead to people ‘going back in the closet’.
We ask the national LGBT+ committee to survey local government branches to identify where LGBT+ services have been discontinued or reduced as a result of budget cuts.
We further call upon the national LGBT+ committee to work with local government service group executive to:
1)Raise awareness of the possibility of cuts being made to LGBT+ services in local authorities and the impact of this.
2)Ask Local Government branches to request information through collective bargaining or through Freedom of Information requests regarding what services their local authority provides to LGBT+ citizens.
