Probation members have enjoyed a good working relationship with their employers both on a local and national basis, our members feel valued and believe that they have a good employer. They are however, shocked to discover that the current government does not value them in the same way. The government intends to create going concerns and sell them to the private sector without protection to probation members’ current terms and conditions of employment.
Conference believes that this is a deliberate attempt to engineer an employment situation that subverts the protections offered by the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE). This is a direct attack on hard earned terms and conditions in a race to the bottom.
Conference calls upon the Police & Justice Service Group Executive to seek to determine the legitimacy of this action in order to ensure that probation members’ terms and conditions are afforded appropriate protection.
