Conference notes with alarm the devastating scale of cuts in the Public Sector which has become clear as public bodies’ budgets are being finalised.
Conference condemns any attempts to roll back women’s equality through attacks on funding of the women’s voluntary sector and public services which primarily affect women.
Whilst national campaigns by their very nature are strategic, women at a local level need to be armed with the tools to challenge the cuts in both services and funding on Gender Equality grounds. This includes making sure that public authorities abide by their legal requirements to equality impact assess the effects of their cuts.
Conference calls on the National Women’s Committee to work with Labour Link and GPF to campaign to integrate gender equality impact assessment into the defence of Public Services Campaigning.
