INCREASING THE ATTENDANCE OF BLACK MEMBERS AT NATIONAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE

Back to all Motions

Conference
2010 National Black Members' Conference
Date
7 August 2009
Decision
Carried

The number of Black Members attending National Delegates Conference is significantly low. Often Black Members in our branches are not aware or provided the opportunity to attend National Delegate Conference, despite UNISON having rules on proportionality and fair representation.

Currently National Black Members Committee mandates 2 members to attend NDC in line with their constitution.

Conference calls upon the NBMC to liaise and work with the NEC to encourage branches to ensure that the spirit of proportionality to actively:

1.Encourage more Black members to attend and represent their branches at National Delegate Conference;

2.Ask NBMC with the NEC to undertake an Audit on NDC attendance in 2010-2011 and report to National Black Members Conference in 2012.
