- 2010 National Black Members' Conference
- 7 August 2009
This conference welcomes the work of UNISON’s International committee, Labour link and UNISON departments working on a range of issues.
However, there is concern that the needs and interests of Black members appear not to be taken as seriously as other sections of UNISON. For instance, the non participation of UNISON at the UN World Conference against racism despite two years of debates and discussions at National Black Members’ Committee meetings.
Conference calls upon the National Black Members’ Committee (NBMC) to liaise with UNISON NEC International committee and Labour Link to:
1.Review funding for the International delegation over 3 years;
2.Ensure equality and proportionality for all Self Organised Groups in shaping up International delegations;
3.Inform the NBMC of the progress made with regards to the review asked for.
