- 2009 Police Staff Service Group Conference
- Date
- 23 June 2009
- Decision
- Carried as Amended
Conference notes that there is a distinct lack of training for Police Staff in operational roles within Police Forces across the country.
New staff often have no formal training and are expected to shadow a more experienced staff member until the trainer feels the trainee is competent. No nationally agreed training manuals are available and there are clear inconsistencies between each force. Whilst Conference understands specific roles vary from force to force, the basic skills for theses roles are the same.
This Conference calls upon the Service Group Executive to work with the Home Office and Skills for Justice to produce compulsory training courses, meeting the needs of Police Staff members, equipping them with the skills and qualifications to fulfil their many and varied roles.
