Rule C 5

Delete existing rule C.5.2 and replace with:

“Rule C.5.2 Providing that the applicant is eligible for membership within these Rules and has not previously been expelled or barred from membership of the union, or has previously ceased to be a member whilst a disciplinary charge against her/him was outstanding, she/he shall become a member of the appropriate branch following receipt of her/his properly completed application form, having due regard for the Disability Discrimination Act, by the branch, region or head office.”

Delete existing rule C.5.5. and replace with:

“Where the branch has reason to believe an applicant may be ineligible for membership, the applicant shall be given notice in writing by the branch secretary of the proposal to exclude or expel him/her and the reasons for that proposal; the individual will be given a fair opportunity to make representations in respect of that proposal, and those representations will be considered fairly.”
