Disability Leave

2009 National Disabled Members' Conference
9 July 2009
Carried as Amended

Conference notes that, despite the implementation of Disability Leave, employers are still failing to actively introduce disability leave as part of the employment sickness policy.

Many disabled people are discriminated against whilst taking leave, due to their disability increasing the number of days of sick leave taken, which has resulted in members being dismissed from their jobs.

We call upon the National Disabled Members Committee to:

1.liaise with the National Executive Council and Service groups to re-launch the national disability leave guidance to branches and regions.

2.work with labour link to campaign to raise the issue with the Government to

ensure that employers follow compliance in line with the Disability

Discrimination Act.
