- Conference
- 2008 National Women's Conference
- Date
- 24 September 2007
- Decision
- Carried as Amended
This conference notes that women are predominantly responsible for ensuring their children attend medical appointments such as post-natal development clinics, child assessment clinics, baby clinics, medical and dental appointments. This means that women have to take time out of a working day to accompany them, often having to use annual leave, time off in lieu or unpaid leave to do so. This places an additional strain on working women – many of whom are part-time, low paid workers and may also be single parents.
Conference calls on National Women’s Committee to:
1)Work within UNISON structures to campaign for the right for all parents and carers to receive paid time off to accompany their children to attend all relevant developmental or medical appointments until they are no longer dependent.
