Conference recognises the commitment given by many UNISON representatives to the implementation of Agenda for Change through their participation in the matching, job analysis, evaluation and review procedures. This is in addition to the development of job descriptions and ksf post outlines. Over the last 3 years there have been hundreds of reps that have developed considerable expertise in these processes.
As the mainstreaming of A4C continues, it is important to recognise the personal development that these reps have experienced may not be matched by the jobs that they are returning to and as a union we have an obligation to recognise this.
Whilst there was a definite view at 2006 Healthcare conference that this recognition should not be monetary, this conference believes that greater consideration must be given to how we utilise the skills that our A4C reps have gained and how we encourage these individuals to use these skills in other ways.
Therefore we call on the Health Service Group Executive to investigate this matter further, drawing on the expertise of branches, regions, self organised groups and other parts of the organisation and bring a report, with options for development to the 2009 Health conference.
