- 2007 Retired Members' Conference
- Date
- 19 June 2007
- Decision
- Carried
Conference recognises that many retired members will know from their own personal experience the dangers of fascism.
Conference notes that the British National Party (BNP) is organising in the West Midlands, East London and in other areas across the country in an attempt to have at least one BNP candidate elected at the next General Election.
Conference supports the work being undertaken by Searchlight and Unite Against Fascism to combat the BNP.
Conference therefore calls on the National Retired Members Committee to ensure that UNISON’s retired members are aware of the real policies of the BNP and of ways in which they can get involved in campaigns against the BNP now and in the run up to the next General Election.
