- Conference
- 2007 Police Staff Service Group Conference
- Date
- 4 October 2007
- Decision
- Carried
Conference notes with concern the failure of the employers’ side of the Police Staff Council (PSC) to engage in further talks with the trade union side. The meeting of the 5th October 2007 was cancelled stating “a need to consider pay movements elsewhere in the public sector”. The pay award was due on 1st September 2007 and the claim was submitted by the trade union side in good time to enable the employers to consider it prior to the meeting of the 30th July.
Conference therefore instructs SGE to seek:
1A meeting with the employers’ side of the PSC as soon as possible to allow meaningful negotiation to take place in settling the 2007 Police Staff pay claim.
2To reaffirm the formula for determining Police Staff pay at the subsequent negotiations.
3To ensure as far as is reasonably practicable and within the gift of the SGE that future meeting dates are not cancelled and if this is not possible to agree a new date as soon as possible.
