NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION FOR THE NHS

Back to all Motions

Conference
2007 Health Care Service Group Conference
Date
29 December 2006
Decision
Carried

Conference is appalled that the NHS is still suffering unprecedented devastating attacks from the government in terms of cuts and marketisation. In view of this, Conference censures the Health Service Group Executive for failing to carry out 2006 Health Conference Policy, as resolved in Motion 11, to organise a national demonstration on the issue of Defend our NHS and Stop Privatisation.

Conference therefore resolves to reaffirm this 2006 policy, and to organise a national demonstration – on a Saturday, in London – within six months of the end of this Health Conference. Attempts must be made to involve other NHS trade unions and staff side organisations and the TUC and local, regional and national campaigns for the NHS, but if any or all of these other organisations do not wish to be involved then UNISON will take the responsibility to organise the demonstration.
