Conference notes with great concern the lack of work done by the Service Group Executive, in campaigning at all levels within the Service, to retain the management and operation of Custody Suites in the Public Sector (Motion 15 Conference 2005)
This Conference notes that with the collapse of the restructuring process of Police Forces in England and Wales, there is grave concern that many Police Forces will now look towards PFI and Best Value to achieve the savings that they believed the restructuring process would have made.
This Conference therefore instructs the Service Group Executive to:
1)Seek urgent talks with the Home Office and the employers, to seek confirmation that the way forward is through the Workforce Modernisation Programme and not with PFI or Best Value initiatives.
