Conference congratulates the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) for updating its CILIP Equal Opportunities

Briefing “Sexual Orientation in Libraries”. It is intended to facilitate equality of opportunity for Lesbians, Gay men, Bisexuals and Transgendered people using, or working in, all types of library and information services. This information will prove to be helpful to employers and service providers by including examples of good practice relating to both service provision and employment issues. Conference notes that the recent UNISON letter to Chief Executives in relation to Cultural and Leisure provision will also include examples of good practice from local authority library services and agrees that examples of this briefing be included in any collated report of responses and circulated back to all those who responded.
