Conference notes that millions of senior citizens depend upon public transport in their daily lives. Conference considers that more resources should be made available for both bus and rail travel.
Conference reaffirms that a national road and rail pass for pensioners aged 60 and over should be introduced as part of a national transport policy.
Conference notes the successful introduction of ring and ride schemes in various parts of the country and calls for such schemes to be introduced nationwide.
Conference calls upon the National Executive Council to pursue, through all appropriate channels, to seek to implement the introduction of a national travel pass and for more resources to be put into transport.
