Conference
2004 National Lesbian & Gay Conference
Date
30 July 2004
Decision
Carried as Amended

Conference congratulates UNISON for it’s participation in ILGA Europe and recognises the important role ILGA Europe has in advising and campaigning on behalf of the citizens of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.

Conference recognises that as the European Union states have developed that the constitutional structure of the UK has also developed into new devolved parliaments each with differing responsibility for equality matters.

Conference recognises that the importance of involvement in European activity has become crucial for UNISON and that it is imperative that UNISON’s delegation reflects this to ensure that the National Lesbian and Gay Committee (NLGC) are able to represent all component parts of the UK.

Conference instructs NLGC delegates to ensure that consultation with Co-Convenors from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the English regions are given the opportunity to provide a report on current equality taking part within their nation, province or region to ensure that European colleagues are given a true flavour of what’s happening in the diverse country known as the UK.
