Mobility and Mufti

Back to all Motions

Conference
2004 Health Care Service Group Conference
Date
5 January 2004
Decision
Carried

This conference calls upon the SGE and National negotiators to make representation on behalf of staff who need to be mobile to carry out their work or wear mufti instead of uniforms.

Current rates of remuneration date from as far back as the 1970’s, when the tax threshold was set at £8,000.

For staff who are part time district nurses, for example, their expenses or lease car contributions are taxable, penalising them for working.

We urge UNISON to lobby the Government and the Chancellor to alter these antiquated regulations.

Furthermore as Agenda for Change does not include mufti allowances and lease car or mobility policies and rates of re-imbursement, we call upon the SGE to fully report to branches on a draft proposal for all trusts, therefore ensuring there will be the same for all staff regardless of the trust they work for.
