- 2004 Health Care Service Group Conference
- 22 December 2003
Conference notes with increasing concern the problems associated with the HPC processing applications for placement or renewal on its register. The high incidence of delays, apparent non-receipt or misplacement of applications and then inability to cope with resulting inquiries from occupational therapists as their registration/renewal date approached last November is of particular concern. Conference notes that the date was put back by just over two weeks but this appeared grossly inadequate given the scale of reported problems and the job implications for OT members were significant.
In return for their fees Health professionals had the right to expect the highest administration standards of their professional register and Conference calls upon the HPC to review its procedures and resource requirements. Failure to do so within six months and UNISON would protest to the Privy Council accordingly.
