This Conference welcomes the young members recruitment figures for 2003 which saw 22,033 young members join UNISON. Recruitment and organising is one of UNISON’s priorities, and it is essential that UNISON involves young people at all levels of the union.

In order to encourage more young members participation in Energy events, such as this conference and the Energy branch seminar, the Energy Service Group Executive is called on to work closely with the National Young Members’ Forum representative elected as the Energy Service Group Liaison representative, to try to achieve the following:

i)All Energy branches appoint a branch Young Members’ Officer;

ii)Branches sending more young members/activists to attend Energy Conference and Energy branch seminar;

iii)Development of other appropriately resourced initiatives which are designed to promote the recruitment, organisation and participation of young members in Energy.
