Promoting Equality Increasing National Black Members’ Committee Motions to National Delegate Conference

Back to all Motions

Conference
2004 National Black Members' Conference
Date
30 October 2003
Decision
Carried as Amended

Conference notes that since the formation of UNISON vesting day self-organised groups have been enabled to send two motions to our union’s sovereign decision-making body, its National Delegate Conference, which takes place annually every June.

Conference, the National Black Members’ Committee feels that in order for self-organised groups to be more effective at UNISON’s National Delegate Conference we need to look at increasing the number of motions submitted onto the agenda.

Conference believes therefore that self-organised group motions to National Delegate Conference should be increased from two to four, which in turn would broaden the participation of all self-organised groups and it would also demonstrate that our union is committed to promoting equality.

Conference therefore calls upon the National Black Members’ Committee to work with the National Executive Council and all self-organised groups to increase the number of motions to our union’s National Delegate Conference for 2004.
