- Conference
- 2003 National Women's Conference
- Date
- 7 February 2003
- Decision
- Carried as Amended
Conference is concerned that we failed to achieve proportionality by the year 2000. But women in UNISON must not let our union forget this policy. It is still important that those who hold power within UNISON, or who represent it should reflect the make-up of the membership. We should continue to strive towards this target and ensure that the achievement of proportionality remains high on UNISON’s agenda, and to ask the National Executive Council to present annually these findings to National Delegates’ Conference.
Conference notes that Motion 36 on Proportionality and Fair Representation moved from the National Women’s Committee and carried at last year’s National Women’s Conference sought progress to be made on this matter. We now need to reinforce our stand.
Conference calls on the National Women’s Committee to collate and publish statistics annually which monitor progress towards achieving proportionality throughout UNISON, and to present these annually to National Women’s Conference.
