Conference notes that:
1.this Conference is timed to meet the deadline for motions for the Health Service Group Annual Conference. This means that motions for other service group annual conferences and for national delegate conference are agreed two or three months earlier than need be so;
2.the Local Government Service Group has agreed to move its annual conference to November which means that, if we continue with our present practice, we shall be agreeing motions and electing delegates for a conference not to be held for twelve months;
and,
3.there is already an annual meeting of lesbian and gay (L&G) members in the Energy, Transport and Water & Environment Service Groups held separately from this Conference,
In view of the Local Government Service Group’s new arrangements, Conference instructs the National Lesbian and Gay Committee to consider, consult and report on the timing of this Conference and of the annual meetings of L&G members in each service group.
This Conference recognises that holding L&G service group meetings separately from this Conference has significant resource implications but that this should be a shared responsibility of the self-organised group and the service group and something each should take into account when they agree the timing of their conferences.
