UNISON members in higher education continue to work hard every day to ensure universities are safe and students are getting the best learning experience.
However, little recognition is given for this, and with the cost-of-living crisis still on the rise, your pay should be rising too. We are committed to ending pay injustice and it’s now time to get the pay you deserve.
Pay claim 2024
The joint pay claim agreed by the lay reps from each of the five unions in New JNCHES – the negotiating set-up for HE pay, has been submitted.
We are seeking the restoration of our members’ lost pay. Below inflation pay rises over the past decade have resulted in members losing up to 30% of the value of their pay.
As part of the 2024 pay claim, we are asking for an increase on all pay points of at least RPI + 2% or a flat rate of at least £2,500 (whichever is greater) and a commitment to restore lost pay. We’re also asking for equivalent rises to London Weighting and any other allowances.
UCEA pay offer
The joint trade unions have met with UCEA frequently, to reach an agreement on the 2024/25 pay round. UCEA have now presented their ‘full and final’ offer, which can be accessed below, along with the offer model.
Higher education ballot 2024
The online consultation closed on 3 September 2024, thank you for everyone who took part.
We will be moving to an industrial ballot in January 2025. Further details about next steps will be shared soon, please check back here for updates in due course.
