GENDER PAY GAP REPORT 2020/2022

Employers with 250 or more employees are required by law to publish their gender pay gap each year on their own and on the Government’s website. This is UNISON’s gender pay gap report for 2022 based on 2021 pay.

UNISON has a positive story to tell about our commitment to equality.

We have an equality proofed pay and grading system that ensures staff are paid in accordance with the Equal Pay Act. Our job evaluation scheme, which is subject to independent equality audits, is based on a range of factors which ensure that all jobs within UNISON are graded fairly.

As part of its continuing commitment to equality, UNISON will be establishing a plan of action to ensure that the organisation continues to reduce its pay gap and achieves parity between its staff.

Our latest figures show that UNISON has a mean gender pay gap between men and women of, on average, 9.9%. This means that there is a gap of 9.9% in favour of men. This is a reduction on the 2020/21 reporting year by 0.4%.

We accept there is always more work to do to close our gender pay gap. When we published our figures for 2020/21, we made a commitment to reduce this figure to below 10% which has been achieved. We are committed to reducing our gender pay gap even further by the next reporting period
