Schools are already feeling the effects of climate change, with support staff often at the forefront of dealing with the impact. Whether it’s site staff dealing with the fallout of storms and floods, teaching and classroom assistants supporting students manage the additional burdens of extreme weather in the classroom, or kitchen staff trying to work in hot kitchens through severe heatwaves, climate change is making work in schools increasingly challenging.
As the biggest union for school support staff, UNISON is committed to supporting our members in schools to fight back against climate change and find better ways of working.
