Webinar launch of Dirty Clean Energy: Sourcing Solar Energy Without Uyghur Forced Labour

11 October 2022 1:00pm–2:15pm

Meeting Climate Change targets whilst ensuring workers in renewable energy global supply chains access Decent Work – Just Transition – is already very challenging. But even more so when it comes to solar energy panels which are nearly all tainted with the Forced Labour of the persecuted Uyghur people who live in the Xingjian Province in China. To provide practical procurement guidance, UNISON has worked with partners to develop an informative and practical procurement guide which will be formally launched at this webinar.

  • Catherine West MP: Shadow Foreign and Commonwealth Minister for Asia and the Pacific
  • Rahima Mahmut: Uyghur World Congress UK Representative
  • Dr Laura Murphy: Professor of Human Rights and Contemporary Slavery at Sheffield Hallam University
  • Chair, Gemma Freedman: International Officer, UNISON

There’s something for all levels of activists. So, join us on 11th October to learn how to influence councils and other employers to source solar panels more responsibly!
