Aims and objectives:
The event aims to educate, inspire, and unite participants around the importance of Black History and its impact on shaping a just and inclusive society. The overarching theme for this year “Reclaiming Narratives” is incumbent on us all.
Why Black History is Important:
Understanding the legacy of Black History provides insight into the significant contributions and experiences of Black individuals and communities throughout history. It highlights the struggles and triumphs that have shaped societies and cultures globally.
By engaging in Black History, people gain a deeper appreciation for diversity and the role of Black communities in the collective human experience. It promotes inclusivity and combats prejudice and stereotypes.
Learning from the past creates an understanding of historical injustices and achievements helps to address current inequalities and informs efforts to build a more equitable future.
Why should you attend?
Attendees will gain valuable knowledge about the historical and contemporary significance of Black History, with inspiring and engaging activities which in turn will foster meaningful conversations
What can participants expect?
Informative sessions, with an interactive element of engaging talks and panel discussion from experts on history, education, and activism. With spoken word performances, musical acts, and an educational quiz, offering both learning and entertainment, whilst providing a platform for diverse voices and perspectives
